Oakencroft’s website is primarily coded in HTML/CSS, with jQuery slideshows and custom JavaScript providing interactivity. Since Oakencroft’s chosen ecommerce solution, Yahoo Small Business, is not compatible with PHP template files, I used Dreamweaver to create a custom HTML template. This custom template allows quick updating of all core files across the site.
It is very important for Oakencroft to not only provide information regarding its sustainable philosophy and practices, but also to visually display their partnership with nature through the use of photography in the website. I used full screen background photos both in the homepage slideshow and on individual pages to convey the scenic atmosphere of the farm.
Throughout the site, there are small interactive elements to add modern functionality and engage the visitor. JQuery slideshows and lightboxes are strategically placed on content pages, a custom Google Map displays retail and restaurant locations, and a small JavaScript tab allows viewers to close and open website content sections at any time in order to view background photos.
