New Work: The Rock Barn (Identity)
This week I completed an identity package for The Rock Barn (TRB), a Virginia based full service catering company. The goal was to create a sophisticated yet humble presence using characteristics from TRB’s thoughtful and creative personality. The new logo directly plays of TRB’s slogan ‘Field-to-Fork’ by incorporating grass blades as the prongs of a fork, while using the Philosopher font for the initials and text. Important aspects of the logo include scalability, readability, and individuality. Below is the final identity package (not included the catering van graphics) as well as a set of variations of the logo. Look out for an upcoming website as well!
Sculptivate by Root
Perhaps my fondest memory of Architecture School is my love affair with the laser cutter. When I came across the branding of Sculptivate by London based Root, I literally jumped for joy. To create the identity for the design and build agency for environments, Root pushed Play Doh through a stencil. The identity has been carried through across all platforms, digital and print, resulting in a very memorable and unique identity. Hopefully when the big bucks start rolling in (fingers crossed!), I can purchase my own laser cutter and re-do/re-vamp by business cards from 2007, or make my own laser cutter . . . . . luckily I have a few stacks left!
New Work: NMS Brochure & Flyer
Last week I was commissioned by National Medical Solutions to design a VERY quick brochure and flyer to match the booth graphic I designed for them earlier this month. Below are flat jpgs (the final work was printed Monday for Wednesday’s event! – therefore I have no photographs). They essentially match the booth graphic very closely and continue the use of the gradient to add an eye catching effect to rather straight forward and professional content.

Logo Proposal (version 1) – Molly's Menu
Working on a project this last month designing a WordPress blog for D.C. private chef Molly Zemek, titled Molly’s Menu. While the site is schedule to go up this next week, I have also been doing logo design work for her as well, in conjunction with the site aesthetic. The logo has not yet been finalized, but below are a couple iterations of my first logo proposal for her. Since then, we have been moving in a different direction, but I nevertheless find the early iteration below an interesting concept utilizing either her initials or the initials of the blog as apron waist ties. Take a look:
The brown color used in the apron matches the site’s theme colors. And the white apron strings that form each letter, creates a nice ‘mulitple’ transparency over the background paper texture used in the site. Below is an image of the logo on top of the paper texture:
This next week I’ll be posting the final version of the site, as well as some information behind the process. Stay tuned!
