CHROMAtex.me Install from SOFTlab on Vimeo.

While cruising SOFTlab’s website came across this time lapse video of their CHROMAtex.me installation for the bridgegallery in the lower east side of Manhattan. Composed of over 4000 laser cut panels of photo ink jet paper that are connected using over 17,000 binder clips, the video provides an excellent insight into the tedious and delicate process of constructing the suspended form. Also – LOVE the interior colors!

See more of their work on SOFTlab’s website.

New Work: Architecture Portfolio

arch-portfolio-01

My architecture portfolio is personal project that’s been in the works for quite some time, only recently have I been able to get it to a somewhat releasable stage. Currently it only showcases models (that lack a description of the project and materials used), but hopefully I’ll find the time to continue to expand upon it.

The Third & The Seventh by Alex Roman

WOW. Everything you thought was possible and more in CG. A full CG animated piece illustrating architecture as art through the photograph and filming of existing spaces. Don’t let the description confuse you though, by ‘existing spaces’ I mean built architecture modeled in 3ds Max. Creator Alex Roman states ‘I think i must make it clear. There are a few non-CG elements in the shortfilm: photographer (shot on greenscreen), pigeons, timelapsed growing flowers, flying airplane and sky backgrounds.”

BEAUTIFUL. MUST watch in full screen, with sound on. And don’t stop short, the latter few minutes are my favorite.
